On August 4, 2026,a landmark media partnership was forged between Guangdong and Samoa.Mr.Deng Hong,Deputy Director General of the Information Office of Guangdong Provincial Government and Mr.Aiolopotea,CEO of Samoa's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology(MCIT),signed a Letter of Intent for Friendly Cooperation,marking the first-ever media collaboration between Guangdong Radio and Television and a Samoan television broadcaster.The letter paves the way for program exchanges,joint productions and personnel exchanges,bringing quality Chinese content to Samoan audiences.
Over the years,Guangdong Radio and Television(GRT)has engaged in exchanges and cooperation with mainstream media outlets in the South Pacific region.Programs such asCanton Todayand China Theaterhave already been successfully launched in several Pacific island countries and are well received by local audiences.This year marks the 51st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Samoa.On this occasion,Guangdong Radio and Television made its first visit to Samoa for cooperation and exchange,bringing a selection of translated documentaries and feature films to local audiences,continuing to tell the stories of China,of the Greater Bay Area,and of Guangdong.
