On the morning of July 15, 2025, the“Chinese Color Glaze Ceramic Art Tour Exhibition (Hohhot, China 中国呼和浩特),” a Communication and Promotion Project funded by the China National Arts Fund (CNAF) 2025, officially opened at the Hohhot Art Museum. This exhibition is jointly hosted by the Department of Cultural Heritage of Beijing City University(BCU) and the Beijing Ceramic Art Museum, and co-organised by the Hohhot Art Museum, which is the fifth station of the national tour, marking the entry of this art project with important academic influence and public dissemination into the hinterland of the grassland culture in North China.

At the beginning of the opening ceremony, the person in charge of the exhibition, Professor Li Bing first introduced the overall situation of the touring exhibition project. It is reported that “Chinese Color Glaze Ceramic Art Tour Exhibition” is the National Art Fund 2025 annual communication and promotion of the project, aims to through the exhibition, research and communication of multi-dimensional integration, a comprehensive presentation of Chinese color glaze ceramic art of historical heritage, contemporary expression and cross-border innovation. The exhibition has six stops, Guilin, Jingdezhen, Fuzhou, Yuzhou, Hohhot, and will finally conclude in Beijing, building a ceramic cultural communication path across the north and south, connecting tradition and modernity.
The exhibition brings together 64 ceramic artists from all over China, displaying a total of 84 pieces (groups) of representative flower-glazed ceramic works. The exhibitors include professional creators from Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts, Central Academy of Fine Arts, China Academy of Art, Jingdezhen Ceramic University and other institutions of higher learning and research institutions, and at the same time, it has absorbed masters of arts and crafts, national non-genetic heritage and representatives of famous ceramic studios from the ceramics towns of Jingdezhen, Junzhou, etc., which fully demonstrates the multi-dimensional integration of the flower-glazed art in the artistry, craftsmanship and academics. The content of the exhibition is based on the structure of the three plates: ‘inheritance of classics - flower glaze art of life aesthetics’ focuses on color glaze ceramics traditional styles in the contemporary context of transformation; ‘craftsmanship - flower glaze art creativity’ shows the artist in the material, technique and form of free exploration; ‘border fusion - flower glaze art of creative presentation’ show artists in the material, technique and form of The ‘Border Fusion - Flower Glaze Art Frontier Expression’ tries to break through the limitations of the medium of ceramic art, presenting the cross-border fusion with metal, glass and other materials.

Zeng Yuhong, Vice President of BCU, said in his speech that flower-glazed ceramics is not only a representative achievement of Chinese ceramic technology, but also an important content of art education, non-genetic inheritance and social service. This travelling exhibition is a concentrated display of the teaching and research achievements of the Department of Cultural Heritage of City College of Beijing over the years, and a vivid practice of promoting the deep integration of higher education and traditional culture. She stressed that in the future, City College of Beijing will continue to expand the dissemination path of flower-glazed ceramic art in youth education and public cultural services, and deepen the philosophy of ‘educating people with culture and beauty’.

Cai Daying pointed out that although the color glaze ceramics is a niche category in ceramic art, but has a unique aesthetic value and industrial potential. With the support of the National Art Fund, the field is being renewed, connecting traditional skills and future cultural creativity. He emphasised that the art of flower glaze, which combines regional culture, contemporary design and technological media, not only demonstrates visual beauty, but also evokes people's empathy for the beauty of natural life, and is a vivid embodiment of the spirit of Chinese craftsmanship. With the concept of ‘from inheritance and innovation to innovation and inheritance’, this exhibition systematically shows the extension path of flower-glazed ceramics from tradition to contemporary, from craft to life, which not only promotes artistic innovation, but also responds to the needs of the times. It is reported that the exhibition will last until July 27, during which the guided tour will be held to explain the cultural promotion activities.
